Pickles are perfect accompaniment to any Indian food. The green Apple loaded with correct proportion of spices makes a substitute for raw mangoes. Green Apple are slightly tangy and even sweet same like mangoes.So we can prepare this pickle in the same way like mango pickle.
Ingredients
1 Green Apple
1 tsp Red Chilli powder
¼ tsp Fenugreek powder
½ tsp Mustard seeds
2 pinch of Asafoetida
Salt as needed
1 tsp Sesame oil/coconut oil
1 whole red chilli broken into 3 or 4 pieces
Few curry leaves
1 tbsp White Vinegar
water as needed
Method
Wash and cut the apple into small pieces.
Add salt and chilli powder to the chopped apple and mix well. Keep it aside for 5 minutes.
Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, curry leaves, broken red chilli, asafoetida and fenugreek powder to this.
When the mustard seeds splutters add this to the green apple and mix well.
Add 1tbsp of vinegar and 2 tbsp of water and mix well.
Green apple pickle is ready. You can serve this with curd rice.
