Ragi Cookies

These Ragi/Finger millet biscuits are quite easy to prepare, very healthy and tastes very delicious. They are rich in fiber, protein and calcium. You can have it as evening snacks at the tea time or any time of the day. These cookies are perfect snacks for kids tiffin box.


½   cup Ragi flour

½  cup wheat flour

½ cup powdered jaggery

½ cup cold butter

1tsp baking powder

½ tsp cardamom powder

2 tbsp milk to knead the dough


Preheat the oven to 180 degree C for 15 minutes

Roast ragi flour on low flame until you get a nice smell.

Add ragi flour, baking powder and wheat flour to a mixing bowl. Mix well.

Cut the butter into small pieces and add to the flour.

Mix well with the finger tips until the mixture becomes crumbled.

Add powdered jaggery and mix well.

Add milk little at a time and make a smooth dough.

Refrigerate the dough for 15-20 minutes.

Make small balls out the dough and press it between your palms to give flat shape and place it on a greased or parchment paper lined baking tray

Make some designs on the top and place some chopped pistachios on the top.

Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the biscuits starts browning slightly.

Remove and cool on a wire rack. Once cool it will become crisp.

Store it in an airtight container.
