Spanish Omelette

Spanish Omelette is the English name for a traditional dish from Spanish cuisine called Tortilla Espanola, Tortilla de Patatas or Tortilla de papas. This Spanish omelette recipe is easy and delicious made with just three ingredients potatoes, onions and eggs.



2medium size cut into small cubes potatoes

4 eggs

1 onion chopped

1tsp Pepper powder


Olive oil



Add salt to potatoes and fry in olive oil until they are lightly crunchy

Now add onions  to the potatoes

When tender ,transfer potatoes and onions to a paper towel to drain excess oil

Break the eggs and beat it with a fork season it with  pepper and a pinch of salt

Heat a frying pan and add little oil to it

Add the potatoes and onions to the pan and pour over the egg mixture into the pan moving the potatoes and onions around the eggs using a spatula in a slow flame. when the mixture has browned on the bottom you are ready to turn it over to cook the other side.


Place a big round plate on the top of the pan and with your hand holding the plate, and the other hand on he frying pan handle, flip the tortilla onto the plate. then slide the tortilla back into the pan carefully



Keep cooking gently shaking the pan occasionally until completely cooked. cook it slowly and don’t overcook

To remove the tortilla from the pan, place a clean plate on the top of the pan and flip again onto the plate

Serve as part of a brunch or for dinner with fluffy green salad

If you are serving it as a main course slice it into six to eight pieces like a pie
